What communities told us about breastfeeding support

UNICEF Afghanistan
This poll will collect community responses on breastfeeding practices, knowledge, challenges and support needs among U-Reporters in Afghanistan, particularly those from families with newborn babies, pregnant women, mothers, fathers and caregivers. The responses will help UNICEF and partners understand what communities know about early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months, the right time to introduce complementary foods, and the recommended duration of breastfeeding. The poll will also explore whether families have received breastfeeding counselling or practical demonstrations, the main challenges mothers face when breastfeeding, and what type of support would make the biggest difference. The findings will be used to strengthen breastfeeding messages, counselling approaches, community engagement activities and future World Breastfeeding Week initiatives, while clearly noting that the results reflect U-Reporter responses and are not nationally representative.
